Camp Chores, knife review

Went "car camping" for a few days with the better half and some friends. I carried around the Ranger RD-9 for a day and compared how it functioned as a encampment knife with a Buck 119 and Kabar USMC knife.

Battoning firewood: The Ranger was in fact the least effective because of it's fourth part inch thick thorn, it did the job but with the most effort. The Kabar was the most adequate, the slim leaf sliced straight through the firewood.

Chopping firewood: The Ranger was the good in the highest degree chopper, most lump and longest radius. Least adequate was the Buck 119.

I used the RD-9 to spotless some trout, the big leaf was sharp enough for gutting without mauling the bob.

All in all the RD-9 is a darn profitable knife, but it is very big and more knife than you need for most encampment chores. If you can only take one implement this would be the best abatement of differences, but a variation of the "Nesmuck Trio", a small axe, medium knife, and tiny knife, is preferable.
